| I just got the hsr-5995tg servo motor. My lab partner was trying to modify the servo when he ripped off the leads to the actual motor with the pcb. I new servo is too expensive for us to get. Does anyone know what type of motor is used in this servo (i mean the actuall internal electric motor)? Please help!!!! A part number would be a life saver right now. Thank you. |

If this is a school project with a deadline, you're probably best to just buy a new servo.
The problem is even if you do find the motor, it's not going to be a motor you can just find anywere and will probably have to order it straight from the manufacturer. THis probably means you will have to order them in mass quantities. If they do offer it to you in small quantities (like less than 10), it's still probably going to a good chunk of the price of a new servo. Let's not also forget it's going to have a lead-time of about 4-6 weeks to get to you and the time it will take to hunt down the motor and the manufacturer.
In my opinion, your only choice is to get a new servo. Finding the motor will take far more time and money than it is worth. YOu could fire an e-mail off to HITEC to ask them what motor is used inside, but even if they tell you, then it's going to be from some motor manufacturer that is very unfriendly with hobbyiest-quantities (in the form of service, help, prices, lead time, shipping, and availiability).
I know. I've tried. |

Nik,
I was doing an OpenServo modification for a friend, and did the same exact thing. The solder on these servos is high in silver content, so it takes a lot of heat to loosen it, which also makes the motor leads extremely easy to break off. Unfortunately, you will be hard pressed to find a replacement motor, unless you know Japanese and Chinese (Japanese servos usually have their parts manufactured in China.) I looked everywhere I could think of, but I ended up paying another $125 out of pocket for my mistake.
Have you thought about using a cheaper servo? Hextronik makes a strong and cheap servo perfect for the OpenServo mod... _________________ "Nothing is fool-proof; For we fools are ingenious and will find a way." |
