Hi, and welcome.

The OpenServo currently uses a PD controller, completely ignoring the I term.

You can find many resources on the net about how to tune a P(I)D controller, here are some of the more useful ones I have in my bookmarks.

http://www.expertune.com/tutor.html
http://www.jashaw.com/pid/tutorial/pid6.html
http://ae.tut.fi/~juke/java/pidtuning/tunidx.html

There are many methods available for tuning the PD terms, you will probably find that manually tuning them will give you the best results.

Barry

Hello Barry,

I was wondering if there is a reason why it's just a PD controller.
